Flowers of Fruits, Vegetables and Herbs

Summer starts in June, according to pundits but because we plan(n/t)ed ahead due to unusually warm temps this spring, we are beginning to see the fruits or rather the flowers of our labor:). It feels like summer alright, with temperatures around 70. A walk around our house was a veritable lesson in botany. I must add that my knowledge of plants is a few degrees better than it was when I was actually pursuing a degree in botany, zoology and chemistry;). Here are some flowers from our yard that are rarely on the table. Some of the beautiful close up shots are courtesy, Paresh!
Chives

Garbanzo Beans

Mustard

Dandelion

Yarrow

Strawberry

Green Pepper

Tomato

Grass

Fenugreek {Methi}

Summer is also that time when I have this great urge to re-create something. With one whole week between classes, I happily began to rummage through our modest pile of stuff in the garage. My goal was to make things that blended harmoniously with our plants. I bought a couple of used cabinet doors, table legs and nails at the local ReStore for a couple of dollars. I also wanted to be able to carry my plants in during the long, winter months and began to think about natural planters.

Here are pictures of things that I recreated. Thanks to my family, Paresh and Bill for all their help in building the bird feeder and bird bath;)

Hope for more flowers of fruits and vegetables and fruits and vegetables this summer for my family and friends and For Earth's Sake:)

Thank you for letting me work in your garden, Ma'am. I enjoyed it thoroughly!! You can be assured of a lot of free labor when I move to Fort Wayne. :)

Great Paresh! You will only be paid in fruits and vegetables! And you have to sing to the plants:)
